The Greene County supervisors had a light agenda for their regular meeting Tuesday, held a day late due to the Veterans Day holiday.
The only items on the agenda were to appoint Jamie Meyer as Cedar Township trustee to replace Mick Towers, who has relocated; and to approve the third and final reading of an ordinance for the division of revenues for a portion of the Greene County Beaver Creek Wind Farm urban renewal area.
During the Reports portion of the agenda, supervisor Dawn Rudolph told an entity board meeting she and supervisor Tom Contner attended. The board looked at a draft of a new 28E agreement between the county and the city of Jefferson for operating the Law Enforcement Center.
The agreement has not been updated since 1976.
The new agreement would increase the city’s cost share from 30 percent to 40 percent, and the city would cover the wages and benefits of one dispatcher. The dispatchers are employed by the county sheriff currently with all costs going to the county.
The increased percentage adds about $9,000 to the city’s share, with the dispatcher being another $52-$54,000.
There was a short discussion of the status of hiring a veterans affairs officer. The position has been vacant for two months. Supervisor Mick Burkett is the board’s representative on the veterans affairs board. He said they’ve received 11 or 12 good applicants for the job, but board chair Gerold Herrick hasn’t moved forward. The position receives state funding that will be lost if the position isn’t filled.
Currently, Greene County veterans are being referred to Boone or Carroll counties.
